Continued Engagement with Traditional Village-Level Organizations

On October 19, 2023, a significant participatory field survey was conducted, engaging the people of Muthur Pradeshiya. This collaborative effort involved the active participation of representatives from traditional village-level civil organizations.

The AHRC (Aham Humanitarian Resource Center) is currently spearheading a project dedicated to fortifying traditional village-level organizations in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts. The primary focus of this initiative is to leverage these organizations as conduits for providing valuable recommendations on pressing social issues.

On the specified date, an area-level survey unfolded, bringing together representatives from civil society operating in the Mudur area. The primary goal was to identify community-level issues within the framework of the project and discern the governance needs crucial for traditional village-level organizations. In attendance were Deputy Convener of AHRC, A. Madhan, and other officials, emphasizing the organization's commitment to the cause.

This collaborative initiative serves as a testament to AHRC's dedication to community development and empowerment. By fostering dialogue and active engagement with traditional village-level organizations, the AHRC aims to address the unique challenges faced by communities and work towards sustainable solutions. Through these efforts, the organization contributes to the overall improvement of living conditions in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.

 

 

Facilitating Dialogue with Democratic Stakeholders and Public Grievance Forum

A vital discussion with democratic stakeholders and a Public Grievance Forum took place on October 17, 2023, at the Kinya Pradeshiya Sabha Assembly Hall.

This event, orchestrated by the AHRC (Aham Humanitarian Resource Center), is part of an ongoing initiative aimed at uniting democratic stakeholders. It brings together regional councils, civil organizations, and media representatives every 45 days. The objective is to unveil challenges identified within the forum, propose effective solutions, and provide the public with insights into the activities of regional councils, fostering transparency and accountability.

The assembly witnessed the active participation of journalists, representatives from regional civil organizations, and various individuals concerned with the welfare of the community. The discussions covered a spectrum of issues faced by the public, showcasing the diversity of concerns and challenges encountered.

Representing the AHRC, Deputy Coordinator A. Madan, Program Coordinator T. Thanushkumar, and dedicated field officers were present. Their presence underscored the organization's commitment to fostering open dialogue and addressing community concerns.

This event serves as a testament to the AHRC's dedication to a participatory and inclusive governance structure. By bringing democratic stakeholders together and encouraging open communication, the initiative aims to create a more informed and engaged community, ultimately contributing to positive and sustainable solutions for the challenges faced.

 

 

Facilitating Dialogue with Democratic Stakeholders and Public Grievance Forum

Date: October 16, 2023

A meaningful discussion with democratic stakeholders and the convening of a public grievance forum took place on October 16, 2023, at the Tambalakam (Mullippottanai) Pradeshiya Sabha.

Under the umbrella of the AHRC's Democratic Stakeholders Uniting Program, this event serves as a crucial platform for bringing together regional councils, civil society organizations, and media professionals every 45 days. The overarching goal is to unveil challenges identified within the forum, propose viable solutions, and keep the public informed about the activities of regional councils, thereby fostering transparency and accountability.

This gathering witnessed the active participation of 35 individuals, including representatives from regional civil organizations and media persons, under the leadership of Tambalagamam Pradeshiya Sabha officers. Various issues affecting the local populace were brought to the forefront during the discussion. Notably, participants delved into matters related to the progress of the 4-year development plan of the Pradeshiya Sabha and contributions for the year 2024.

It's worth mentioning the active involvement of AHRC Project Coordinator and field officers, who shed light on the ongoing activities orchestrated through the Divisional Council. Their insights provided valuable context to the participants and showcased the collaborative efforts in addressing community concerns.

This event stands as a testament to the commitment of democratic stakeholders and the AHRC to work collaboratively towards a more accountable and responsive governance structure. By fostering open dialogue and proactive engagement, the aim is to create lasting solutions to the issues facing the community.

 

Evaluation Review Discussion in Trincomalee

The Aham Humanitarian Resource Center (AHRC) recently organized a training course on the Basic Human Rights Act in Trincomalee, targeting civil networkers, representatives of traditional village-level organizations, civil activists, and social activists. Subsequently, a relevant review discussion took place this morning on October 14, 2023.

The session was attended by civil networkers and representatives of traditional village-level organizations, alongside civil society activists, social activists, and officials from AHRC.

 

 

Follow-up Discussion with Traditional Village-Level Organizations

On October 11, 2023, a Participatory Field Survey for the Vagarai region was conducted, with the active participation of representatives from traditional village-level civil organizations. Additionally, donors were actively involved in this event.

As part of its initiatives, AHRC is currently executing a project aimed at fortifying traditional village-level organizations in Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts. The objective is to facilitate these organizations in providing recommendations on various social issues.

To delve into the grassroots perspective, an area-level survey was conducted on October 11, 2023. The primary goal was to identify community-level issues and governance needs among traditional village-level organizations. This initiative brought together civil society representatives operating in the Vaharai Division.
