The participants in this training course included representatives from various village-level organizations.

Participating in this training course were village development officers along with representatives from various village-level organizations.

On November 21, 2023, a discussion with democratic stakeholders and a public grievance forum took place in the assembly hall of Kuchaveli Pradeshiya Sabha.

AHRC's program, aimed at uniting democratic stakeholders, convenes regional councils, civil organizations, and media persons every 45 days. The purpose is to highlight community-identified problems, propose solutions, and keep the public informed about the activities of the regional council, thereby promoting transparency and accountability. In alignment with this initiative, officers from Kuchaveli Pradeshiya Sabha, regional civil organizations, and media personnel were in attendance.

Numerous issues faced by the local residents were brought forward during this discussion, with a specific focus on the ongoing rainy weather and concerns related to the Drainage. T. Thanuskumar, Project Coordinator of AHRC, and N. Ismia, Field Coordinator, actively participated in the deliberations.

A solemn and informative two-day residential training course took place in Batticaloa on November 15-16, 2023, dedicated to the members of the Association of Disappeared Persons in Trincomalee and Batticaloa Districts in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka.

The training course aimed to address critical topics such as the Act on Disappeared Persons, the ongoing operations of the Office of the Missing Persons, procedures for carrying out referrals, and an in-depth understanding of international structures including the United Nations Security Council, the International Criminal Court, and the United Nations Human Rights Council. Special emphasis was placed on the role of the association within these structures.

Conducted under the leadership of Velan Kumari, Project Coordinator of the initiative, the training was facilitated by AL Isaideen, Regional Coordinator of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission. Noteworthy contributors to the training included Mr. Kandumani Lavakusarasa, Coordinator of Aham Humanitarian Resource Center, and Deputy Coordinator Mr. Alakurasan Mathan.

This comprehensive training session not only provided valuable insights into legal frameworks and international mechanisms but also offered a platform for members to collectively reflect on their roles within the Association of Disappeared Persons. The event served as both a condolence gathering and an empowering educational initiative, highlighting the commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the community.
