Workshop on participation of women in politics

Today (17th) AHRC organized a workshop to develop personalities for women to contribute to politics in Trincomalee district. 22 women activists from women's organizations operating in Trincomalee district participated in this workshop.
History shows that women's representation or women's involvement in Sri Lanka's electoral history is less, but all women are ignored in elections, regardless of race, language and religion.
This situation should change from this situation, by identifying women with leadership skills and increasing their participation in elections, with the aim of increasing the participation of women in the future, women who are 52 percent of the Sri Lankan population, contribute to the elections and enjoy all the rights of women through their political strength. In this seminar, 22 district-level women activists were present to provide legal advice and Mayuran Prasantini, a lawyer and TDWN coordinator, as resource persons.
