Human Rights Day Week in Trincomalee and Batticaloa

In commemoration of International Human Rights Day, a dedicated Human Rights Day week will be observed from Monday, December 4, to Tuesday, December 12. This initiative is led by civil organizations in Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts under the auspices of the Aham Humanitarian Resource Center (AHRC).
The activities encompass various locations, including Trincomalee town and its surroundings, Morawewa, Kandalai, Muthur, Tambalagam, Kuchaveli, Verugal in the Trincomalee district, and Vagarai, Vazaichenai, Gran, Vaunadivu, Chengaladi in the Batticaloa district.
Civil activists, in collaboration with AHRC, are organizing a series of human rights-related events throughout the week. These events aim to raise awareness and shed light on issues related to human rights violations in the region.
The activities will include street chanting, the presentation of posters, and public discussions to actively engage the community. By providing a platform for open dialogue and advocacy, the Human Rights Day week seeks to empower individuals and communities to become active participants in promoting and protecting human rights.
This initiative is a testament to the collective commitment of civil organizations and AHRC to advocate for human rights, fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and activism within Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.
