Engaging in Dialogue with Democratic Stakeholders - Chenkaladi

Date: September 13, 2023

A meaningful discussion with democratic stakeholders and the convening of a public grievance forum marked an important event held on September 13, 2023. The gathering took place in the meeting hall of Erravur Pathu (Chenkaladi) Pradeshiya Sabha, fostering an environment for open dialogue and the exchange of ideas.

The AHRC (Aham Humanitarian Resource Center) has embarked on a comprehensive program designed to unite democratic stakeholders. This initiative brings together regional councils, civil organizations, and media professionals every 45 days to address the issues voiced within the forum, propose viable solutions, and inform the public about the activities undertaken by the regional council. The overarching goal is to establish transparency and accountability in the governance process.

A diverse assembly of 45 individuals, comprising representatives from regional civil organizations and journalists, were present at this significant gathering. Numerous concerns and challenges faced by the local population were raised during the discussions. Notably, civil organizations articulated issues concerning elephant encroachment in the area, road reconstruction, shortcomings in government initiatives, and the pressing need for employment opportunities.

It's noteworthy that Mr. A. Madan, Deputy Coordinator of AHRC, alongside Project Coordinator T. Dhanushkumar and dedicated field officers, provided insights into the ongoing activities orchestrated by the Divisional Council on behalf of the community. Their contributions shed light on the endeavors undertaken to address the concerns voiced during the meeting.

This event stands as a testament to the commitment of democratic stakeholders and the AHRC to work collaboratively towards a more accountable and responsive governance structure. By fostering open dialogue and proactive engagement, the aim is to create lasting solutions to the issues facing the community.
