Engaging in Dialogue and PRA with CBOs of Morawewa

Date: September 19, 2023

On this auspicious day of September 19, 2023, a People's Participatory Field Survey for the Morawewa Region was conducted with active participation from representatives of traditional village-level civil organizations.

The AHRC (Aham Humanitarian Resource Center) is currently at the forefront of a transformative project aimed at bolstering traditional village-level organizations in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts. This ambitious initiative seeks to harness the collective wisdom and experiences of these organizations to provide essential recommendations on pressing social issues.

Today, a pivotal regional-level study was conducted, focusing on identifying the challenges that communities face and discerning the governance needs of traditional village-level organizations within the framework of the project.

The event unfolded at the Rambanda Ngapakartha Mandapam, situated within the precincts of the Pradeshiya Sabha in the Morawewa region. A total of 40 dedicated representatives from traditional village-level organizations, representing the Tamil, Sinhalese, and Muslim communities, graced the occasion.

In attendance were Ms. Sanjalitha, Project Accountant, and the esteemed Project Consultant, Mrs. M.M.N Ismia, who provided invaluable insights and guidance throughout the event.

The facilitation of the discussions was undertaken by Mr. T. Kalaikumar, Senior Citizens Development Officer of the Department of Social Services, who played a pivotal role in ensuring a constructive and productive dialogue among participants.

The coming together of these diverse individuals and organizations exemplifies a collective commitment to addressing societal challenges and enhancing governance at the grassroots level. Through initiatives like these, the AHRC strives to bring about positive change and empower local communities in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.
