DISCUSSION WITH DEMOCRATIC ACTORS – KUCHAVELI.
A dialogue with democratic stakeholders aimed at providing a platform for addressing social issues took place today (22.08.2023) within the assembly hall of the Kuchaveli Pradeshiya Sabha.
As part of AHRC's initiative to foster collaboration among democratic stakeholders, including Pradesh Sabhas, civil organizations, and media professionals, gatherings will be convened every 45 days. The purpose is to highlight the concerns discussed within the forum, propose solutions, and enhance transparency and accountability in the activities of the Pradesh Sabha. The discussion was attended by a total of 27 individuals, including representatives from civil society organizations and media personnel. Various issues affecting the community were brought forward during this discourse.
Among the highlighted issues, the scarcity of drinking water in the region, deficiencies in the operations of pre-schools, and challenges related to road development and industrial scarcity were emphasized by the participants, particularly by civil organizations. Additionally, representatives from the Divisional Council underscored the initiatives undertaken within the Divisional Council's purview.
Notably, Mr. Jayavishnu, the Secretary of Kuchaveli Pradeshiya Sabha, and Mr. Madan, Deputy Coordinator of AHRC, actively participated in this productive dialogue. This engagement serves as a meaningful step toward addressing and resolving pertinent issues within the community.
