Dialogue with Democratic Actors - Vaharai

Date: 22.12.2023

Location: Vaharai Pradeshiya Sabha Assembly Hall

In a concerted effort to strengthen democratic values and address community concerns, a vibrant dialogue unfolded on December 22, 2023, at the assembly hall of Vaharai Pradeshiya Sabha. The event, organized by the Aham Humanitarian Resource center (AHRC), marked a significant step towards fostering collaboration among democratic stakeholders.

AHRC's initiative aims to facilitate regular interactions among key players in the democratic process, including regional councils, civil organizations, and media representatives. The gathering, held every 45 days, serves as a platform to identify community challenges, propose viable solutions, and enhance transparency and accountability within the Village Council (VC).

The event saw active participation from Vaharai Pradeshiya Sabha officials, regional civil organizations, and media professionals. Their presence underscored the commitment to open dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.

Numerous issues affecting the community were brought to the forefront during the discussion, with a particular focus on the challenges posed by the current rainy weather and its impact on the region. The exchange of ideas provided an invaluable opportunity for stakeholders to collectively brainstorm and strategize on effective solutions.

Adding depth to the conversation were the esteemed Project Coordinator and Field Coordinator from AHRC. Their involvement highlighted the organization's dedication to facilitating dialogue and fostering positive change at the grassroots level.

The event not only served as a forum for addressing immediate concerns but also as a means to inform the public about the ongoing activities of the Village Council. This proactive approach aims to bridge the gap between governance and the community, creating a more informed and engaged citizenry.

As discussions unfolded, it became evident that these regular gatherings are instrumental in establishing a culture of open communication, accountability, and collaboration. By uniting democratic actors, this initiative by AHRC contributes significantly to the overall development and well-being of the Vaharai community. As the dialogue continues, it is anticipated that sustainable solutions will emerge, driving positive change for the benefit of all.
